The Society was founded around 1980 and its primary objective remains to promote and foster interest in, and knowledge of the City of London.  i.e. the “square Mile”

The City of London Historical Society has an annual programme of discussions, talks, walks and visits that explore the history of the square mile, its traditions, customs, governance and wards and parish structures, livery companies, business and social life throughout the ages.  in addition the activities cover the topography of the City, its architecture, amenities and suburbs..
